How about an open track party? one race in the early evening have all the racers come out, park the cars from every division (Thunders, Roadies, Rookies, Outlaws, Enduros, Flagpole, spectator race cars, V6 mods, Classic lites) out on the front straight let the fans come down and meet the drivers, let the kids collect autographs, get pics taken with them next to the cars and such. monadnock does this once a year and its a hit each year.

I agree more parking would be very helpful but I'm not sure any of the surrounding areas would work or allow it. I agree with Kyle we are all anxious to get to the track.
Roland, I think running the rookies and outlaws on every other opposite week would be perfect.

How are the teams supposed to work on there cars,if their equipment is down the road? I think we are all anxious for the upcoming season and coming up with ideas. I guess all we can do is show up on Sunday give the fans a great race and any thing inbetween what we all do let the powers to be sort it out. If it means adding another division I dont think the fans will not enjoy it in the least. Every fan last year walked away well enjoying them selves and its up to every driver again to put on another great time for the fans no matter how many (new)divisions are there this year.

If there are 30 cars, who will say your a rookey and your a strictly. I would rather be a winner in rookeys, then a sixth place strictly. Even though the car is a 2 year old streeter. There has to be a tech person to keep law and order. Thats where thunder cars came from years ago, remember that division.

hey hows it going out there !!
03-12-2010 7:16:44 AM CST
Don't think parking trailers outside of the pits would work... back in the day there was overflow pit parking across the street from the pits and there was grandstand parking in the field across the street from the main gate. Neither area can be used for parking now. Just stating the facts, things are not the same today so we can't just "do it like the old days". Gotta work with what we got!
03-11-2010 8:00:52 PM CST
Maybe they will have to park the trailers outside the pits, like they used to in the 70's & 80's.
The racers with in-closed will not be happy, but if that's what it takes, so be it.
03-11-2010 7:46:55 PM CST
back in the 70/80's there was overflow parking for race cars across the street from the pits.. and the class of drivers were alot different than what we have today. Some of these drivers showing up come only to wreck someone else every weekend. Cars back then they were teched in the infield if i remember correctly? also the spectator race were all registered cars as well...Not looking for an argument just a thought on safety... not looking to be called a dink either...

i tghink we should tech all cars and class. and ther should be 2 diffrent class wether it be rookie 1 and rookie 2 or a and b class or weekely enduro class .. the pits being crowded deal with it it will only increce the amount u win. dont drive like a dink and no one will get hurt. back in the 70's 80's there were never problems and thay qwere more cars than u could count . lets get the show on the way.

well the extra money could come from 50/50 raffles? Maybe try local company sponsoring a race? Not only would you get the proceeds but possibly that company buying tickets to show up to see the races. The fan base is there and I guess extra division would bring extra ticket sales and pit sales as well.
03-11-2010 6:57:56 AM CST
Kyle, I agree with all of your poitns. 50 lap rookie races now and then would be great, increased purses would be nice (but not sure where the money would come from), and the pits are crowded. My thought tho, was that if there are going to be a lot of cars showing up anyways, why not run them in 2 divisions? If 30 rookie cars show up to run as rookies or 15 rookies and 15 strictlys show up, they will take up the same amount of pit space. I do, however, agree that if you advertised them as two different divisions you would have people showing up for the strictlys who weren't already showing up for the rookies...so there might be some more pit congestion. Maybe the solution would be to run them on weeks when the outlaws were not there? Just make sure 2 of the 3 divisions are always running? Who knows, its all speculation, I'm just thinking there will be a lot of rookies this year and it might be better to split them into 2 more even fields.
03-10-2010 4:17:19 PM CST
If they were to open another division were would the cars be pitting? when the outlaws are present it already fills the pits.. Its a good idea but with the crowds that were present last year it could lead to higher amount this year. How about making a 50 lap rookie race or a 50 lap outlaw race beef up the purse if possible. need to get the current divisions in line first then possibly add more to the program if space permits. we get the pits to crowded we are setting ourselves up for someone to get hit or run over. There are cars running every weekend that need to be teched more than running over the scales.

Last year at Hudson the rookies ran with a consistant pack of 16 or so cars, with fields as large as 22 at different times throughout the year. Been hearing a lot of teams are buying/building rookie cars, add in the confusion at the other local tracks this year there is a good chance Hudson will absorb some other local racers, making one think that there could possibly be fields of 30+ this year.
If this many rookie cars show up, should Hudson run a strictly division? There are cars in the rookies that are obviously strictlys already, why not split them into two divisions?
